Trivento, the number one Argentinean brand both in the UK and worldwide, celebrated World Malbec Day on April 17th in style at Gaucho restaurant in London. Trivento Chief Winemaker Germán di Cesare was joined by almost 50 trade and lifestyle journalists, wine communicators and influencers to pair five amazing Malbec wines with Gaucho’s signature Argentinean cuisine. Leading wine writer Tim Atkin MW held a question and answer session with Germán, as well as leading the whole restaurant in the singing of ‘Happy Birthday’ to Malbec, in both English and Spanish!
In between courses, the guests were treated to flamenco guitar and live tango dancing.
Journalists from leading trade and consumer press were taken through a brief introduction to Argentina by Marketing Manager Silvina Barros, before being treated to Malbec in its many forms, including Trivento’s innovative White Malbec – white wine made from black grapes - which the winery were the first to introduce into the UK, and Malbec rosé. The red Malbecs took centre stage next, including Trivento Reserve, which is not only the top selling Malbec, but the UK’s best selling wine of any colour. These were followed by a sumptuous pairing of Private Reserve and Golden Reserve Malbecs with fine Argentinean meats.
The grand finale of the whole food and wine pairing was Trivento’s icon wine Eolo, made from 100 year old vines, and amazing lomo steak.
